Anadenanthera peregrina
(Cohoba, Yopo)
Source: Brazil, sustainably harvested
Packaging: seeds
Anadenanthera peregrina requires poor and relatively dry soils and is less cold tolerant
than it's cousing A. colubrina. It's range includes Brazil, British Guyana, Colombia
and Venezuela but has possibly spread beyond those regions.
Easily confused with Anadenanthera colubrina and employed in exactly the same way.
Traditionally the ripe seeds are toasted, ground to a fine powder and mixed with lime
(or snail shells) to prepare a psychoactive snuff. The snuff is used for healing and
divination among many indigenous tribes.
